ORCHARD SCHOOL MATHS QUALIFICATIONS

Maths Qualifications

We offer students a variety of mathematical qualifications to help them move on to further education.

As with all mainstream schools we offer the new format GCSE, which will consist of 3 examinations, which will assess student’s ability to: applying standard techniques, establish their reasoning, interpreting and communicating skills and finally solving non-routine problems.

Each exam is 1 hour and 30 minutes long and has an equal weighting of 33.3% towards their final grade. The new GCSE also has different grading system which replaces the former A-G, known as 9-1; with 9 being an equivalent to A*/ A , and 1 equivalent to G/F.

We also offer a GCSE in statistics which currently involves coursework and a final exam.

A qualification in Number and Measure (both levels 1 & 2) and Statistics (Level 1) is also available to our pupils.
