Safeguarding

Safeguarding at The Orchard School

Everyone Matters. Everyone Cares — and everyone is kept safe.

At The Orchard School, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to creating a secure, supportive and vigilant environment where all pupils feel protected, listened to and respected.

Many of our pupils arrive with complex needs and past experiences that require sensitive, trauma-informed safeguarding. Our approach is rooted in strong relationships, consistent practice, and early intervention.

Our Safeguarding Commitment

  • Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility - all staff are trained, alert and proactive.
  • Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) team works closely with pupils, families and external agencies to provide coordinated, timely support.
  • We use Safeguard My School to record and respond to concerns efficiently, ensuring clear lines of communication and accountability.
  • Our therapeutic environment is designed to support disclosure, build trust, and reduce harm.

Need to Report a Concern?

If you are a pupil, parent or visitor and you are worried about a child’s safety or wellbeing, please speak to any member of staff or contact our safeguarding team directly.

We take all concerns seriously. We will listen, respond, and act - because safeguarding is not just a policy. It’s a culture.
