  • SEND Policy

Clarity, consistency and care in every plan.

At The Orchard School, our SEND Policy sets out how we meet the needs of all pupils with special educational needs and disabilities — within the context of a specialist SEMH setting. Every pupil on roll has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), and our provision is designed to respond flexibly, relationally and therapeutically to a wide range of complex needs.

Our policy reflects the guidance in the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and is rooted in our Mission, Vision and Values and whole-school use of Therapeutic Thinking.

Key Features of Our SEND Policy

    • Commitment to inclusive, pupil-centred practice
    • Identification and regular review of needs through EHCP outcomes
    • Strong focus on emotional regulation, social communication and wellbeing
    • High-quality teaching with adaptations based on need
    • Co-production with families and external professionals
    • Focus on preparing pupils for adulthood and next steps
